A fusion of dark magic and twisted science, the Ritual of Deceit is the Game Master’s twisted vision of an ancient legend. Beyond the infinite horizons of the Inbetween, a great evil stirs—feeding on raw, primal emotion. Fear. Trust. Anger. And most delicious of all… hope.
THE MASTER PLAN
The illusive Game Master weaves a deadly Ritual, a sinister event that unfolds at a haunted Ritual Site, a place marked by past horrors. These locations, steeped in death and mystery, serve as the perfect stage for a cruel game of deception, survival, and betrayal.
Three distinct factions take part in the Ritual:
• The Innocent – Still human and desperate to escape, but unsure who to trust. They must complete objectives, uncover the truth, and survive until the Ritual ends.
• The Infected – Instruments of the Game Master’s will, they lurk hidden among the group, waiting for the perfect moment to strike and plunge the Innocent into chaos.
• The Cursed – Twisted by the Ritual, these unfortunate souls exist in limbo, wielding dark powers that disrupt the balance of the game.
As the Ritual progresses, reality itself begins to unravel. Periodically, the players are cast into The In-Between, a nightmarish realm where the Game Master’s influence is strongest. Here, the Infected gain power, and survival becomes but a fleeting hope for the unwary..
With shifting alliances, limited resources, and the ever-present threat of betrayal, only those who can outwit their foes will escape the Ritual alive. Will you uncover the truth, or will you fall victim to the Game Master’s mysterious grand design?
THe Good…
The largest—and most vulnerable—group in the Ritual is The Innocent. Their only chance of survival is to work together, uncover those plotting against them, and prevent their escape.
To stay ahead, they must:
Complete tasks across the Ritual Site to earn Items from the Peddler.
Investigate carefully to gather vital information.
Take decisive action—when they suspect someone is working against them, they must down their target and vote to banish them.
When the Inbetween arrives, survival depends on maintaining Sanity while evading the Terrors lurking in the dark.
The Innocent can escape the Ritual by completing all tasks and unlocking the exit—or by eliminating every last enemy.
THE BAD…
THE BAD…The Infected are the lurking menace, an informed minority hidden within the group, working in secret to bring about the Game Master’s will. They are horror made flesh, biding their time until the moment is right to strike.
To succeed, they must:
Corrupt the Ritual – Secretly activate Blood Altars to weaken reality’s grip, drawing the group ever closer to The In-Between, where their true power is unleashed.
Unleash Terror – Once The Inbetween takes hold, the Infected can transform into their monstrous Terror form, hunting the Innocent, draining their Sanity, and banishing them from the Ritual.
Secure Their Escape – The Infected win by eliminating every last Innocent—or by slipping away unnoticed before the Ritual concludes, leaving the survivors to suffer their fate.
They blend, they manipulate, they wait for the perfect moment to strike. Will you see them before it’s too late?
…AND THE UGLY!
Lurking in the shadows of the Ritual, neither fully ally nor true enemy, The Cursed are an unpredictable force bound by dark afflictions. Twisted by the Game Master’s cruel design, they exist in a fragile balance—neither Innocent nor Infected, yet working against the group in their own sinister way.
Each Curse is unique, warping their actions and abilities, forcing them to manipulate, deceive, or sow discord in ways the others can’t anticipate. Their motives remain a mystery, their true purpose concealed… until it’s too late.
To survive, The Cursed must outlast their foes—or fulfil their hidden objective, escaping the Ritual before their affliction consumes them entirely.
